The Association of Women in Colleges Of Education In Nigeria (WICE), have called on the Executive Governor of Kwara State, H.E Mallam Abdurrahman Abdurrazaq, to consider their representation in the management of the College.
This surfaced in a released press statement signed by the Chairperson of WICE, College of Education, Oro Chapter, Dr. Sherifat Adebayo.
During the forum meeting, Dr. Sherifat emphasized the roles of women in Academia as a panacea towards enhanced academic excellence and the need for women’s representation to have a robust service delivery and also complement the efforts of their male Colleagues.
She proceeded to seek the understanding of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to consider the only female contesting for the office of Deputy Provost Academic of the College of Education, Oro.
She also commended the gender-friendly Governor and appeal to him through the Ministry of Tertiary Education and the Governing Council of the institution to consider a female representation for the office of the Deputy provost Academic of the College.
She added, “no woman, despite satisfying all requirement have been allowed to occupy the seat in the history of the College”.
In the statement, the Association of Women in Colleges of Education, in Nigeria, Oro chapter, unanimously appeals to the Kwara State Government and other Concerned authorities to consider Dr. Abdulsalam, Nike Abiodun, adding that she is a seasoned Academia and Virtue filled Woman with much Credibility.
The Women’s Forum also noted that Dr. Abdulsalam Nike Abiodun had held several positions of authority and she is competent and long overdue for the position.
