In a remarkable effort to support education, the Youth Circle for Social Development (YCSD) has paid the school levies for 30 pupils at LGEA Primary School in Ogele, Asa Local Government of Kwara State. This marks the launch of YCSD’s ambitious “100 Children Back to School” initiative, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on parents and ensuring children remain in school.
The Assistant Headmaster of LGEA Primary School, Ogele, praised the initiative, stating, “This initiative is a wonderful one and will help the students focus more in class as the school won’t have to send them away for non-payment of school fees.” His sentiments were echoed by Mr. Ilyas Balogun, the class teacher to some of the beneficiaries. He emphasized that parents would be very happy when they learn their children’s school fees have been paid by the Youth Circle. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I appreciate the Organization for the wonderful job well done.”
Abdullahi Loke, the Lead Advocate of the Youth Circle for Social Development, highlighted the broader vision behind this initiative. He stated, “This is just the launch of the 100 Children Back to School campaign. Youth Circle will continue this project until we are satisfied with the progress.” Loke underscored the importance of supporting families during these challenging economic times, ensuring that more children have access to education.
This initiative aligns with UNESCO’s research, which stresses the urgency of enrolling students to meet global education targets: “We need to enroll a student every 2 seconds between now and 2030 if countries are to achieve their targets.” With over 250 million children out of school worldwide, YCSD’s efforts are a vital contribution to addressing this crisis.
YCSD remains committed to making a difference, one student at a time, and invites the community to support this noble cause.
