2027: Why governors are defecting to APC — Gov Sule

Get more connected to the real facts

Nasarawa Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has explained why state governors across the federation are decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Sule revealed this while fielding questions during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, which was monitored by Tribune Online on Tuesday.

According to him, the reforms of President Bola Tinubu is the brain behind the mass defection into the ruling party.

Recall in recent times, a handful of governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the only New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governor, Abba Yusuf of Kano State, have joined the ruling party.

“Why do the political parties panic when the governors are leaving, and their departure does not mean anything? Why does the governors’ departure become a betrayal or a problem?

“As at yesterday, we welcomed the 29th governor; that is the governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang. The governor of Taraba will also be received officially into the party in the next two days.

“More governors are joining the APC because of the impact they have been able to make, driven by the reforms of President Tinubu.

“If you go to every state in Nigeria, you will see major changes as a result of the improved revenue that these governors are getting,” Sule said.
