The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has said that the era of terrorist attacks on key national infrastructure such as prisons, military camps, and rail lines has ended under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Ribadu, who gave the assurance in an interview with the BBC, warned bandits operating in the northern part of the country to surrender and stop killing innocent citizens.

“We believe the time has come for these terrorists to stop and lay down their arms,” Ribadu said.

He noted that despite ongoing security concerns in some regions, the Tinubu administration had made progress in reducing the scale and frequency of attacks by terrorist groups across the country.

“In the past, terrorists used to attack prisons, trains, and military camps, but since this government came into power, we have stopped that. There has not been a single major terrorist attack since this administration took over, except for those in Borno,” he said.

The NSA added that many notorious bandit leaders had been killed, with efforts continuing to dismantle the criminal networks threatening national peace.

“The number of top bandit leaders we’ve killed is at least 300.

Now many people have returned to their farms, and areas that were previously inaccessible due to insecurity are now open again,” he stated.

Ribadu emphasised the need for the government to highlight its successes in combating insecurity in the country.
