The Kwara South Youth Development Forum has responded to the remarks made by the Archbishop of Kwara Anglican Province, Most Rev. Israel Amao, during the funeral service of the late elder statesman and former governor of Kwara State, Chief Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, held in Oke Onigbin, Kwara State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Forum expressed concern over what it described as partisan undertones in the Archbishop’s comments. It stated that while religious leaders are entitled to their opinions, such platforms should be used to promote unity, morality, and truth rather than political sentiments.

The Forum emphasized that the pulpit remains a sacred space meant to guide congregants with integrity and objectivity, adding that mixing religion with partisan politics could weaken the moral influence of the Church.

It commended the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and infrastructural development, noting that efforts are ongoing to address pension arrears and other welfare challenges.

The Forum reaffirmed the commitment of the youths of Kwara South to building a state anchored on truth, unity, and progress. It urged both religious and political leaders to uphold moral responsibility in public discourse, stressing that collective commitment to truth and accountability would promote good governance and strengthen public trust.

The statement was signed by the Kwara South Youth Development Forum.
