Chairman of Awliya Foundation, Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Chairman of the party, Prince Sunday Fagbemi.

Lawal said he visited Prince Fagbemi to officially inform him of the decision of his political family to align with the APC in Kwara State.

In his response, Prince Fagbemi welcomed him on behalf of the APC National Chairman and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, describing the move as a reunion and a homecoming into the progressive fold.

The meeting was attended by key political stakeholders, including the former Kwara State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji AbdulAzeez Afolabi; the Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the Governor, Prince Sulyman Sai Kayi; the APC Chairman in Ilorin East, Hon. Habib Lawal; and the APC Chairman of Magaji Aare Ward I.

Thereafter, Lawal proceeded to Magaji Aare Ward I to complete his APC membership registration, where he was warmly received by traditional leaders, including the Magaji Aare of Ilorin and the Baba Isale of Ilorin.

The leaders offered prayers and goodwill messages as he begins a new political journey within the party.

Lawal reaffirmed his commitment to supporting progressive governance and contributing to the growth of the APC in Kwara State.
