The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, has dissociated itself from a widely circulated publication titled “Offa Students Slam Kwara Governor Over False Hostel Construction Claims.”
In a statement signed by the Union’s President, Babatunde Olamilekan Matthew, the SUG categorically stated that it was not involved in the making or circulation of the report, describing it as misrepresentative of the students’ official position.
“As published a few days ago concerning challenges in our hostel, we still assert that our hostels need renovations,” the statement read in part. “However, as a responsible body committed to the welfare of our students, we believe in constructive engagement with school authorities and relevant government agencies to resolve any challenges facing our members.”
The Union reiterated its continued commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution of students’ concerns, emphasizing that any official communication regarding students’ welfare would be issued through proper channels—not through politically motivated media narratives.
It further warned political actors and opposition figures against exploiting the name of the institution or the genuine concerns of students for political gain. “The welfare of students should not be politicized under any circumstances,” the Union stated.
The statement urged members of the public to disregard the report and assured students of the Union’s unwavering commitment to protecting their interests through diplomacy and responsible leadership.
