Youth Integrated Group hosts Graduation Ceremony for Free ICT, Skills Training Program

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, the Youth Integrated Group (YIG) held a graduation ceremony for participants of its free ICT training and skills acquisition program at the Pakata Area Development Association Hall, Ilorin.


The event was organized in honor of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, to celebrate the empowerment of young people and support the Governor’s efforts to promote sustainable livelihoods across the state.

The ceremony opened with prayers led by Sheikh Adam, followed by remarks from Ambassador Zakariyahu Mumeenat Jumai, the convener of YIG and a former aspirant for the Ilorin West Local Government chairmanship.

Ambassador Jumai shared the group’s achievements and her political journey, reflecting on the challenges she overcame. She reiterated her commitment to politics as a means of serving the community rather than pursuing personal interests.

Dr. S.O. Sulayman Al-Budowiy, the guest lecturer, spoke on the critical role of entrepreneurship and empowerment in community development and commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his dedication to uplifting the people of Kwara State. Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe also addressed the gathering, sharing his experiences with YIG and applauding their contributions to Ilorin West and beyond.

 

Certificates and startup tools were presented to the graduates of the program. Participants trained in shea butter production, liquid soap making, and balm production received the necessary materials to begin their businesses, while ICT trainees were assured of receiving SMEDAN certificates to enhance their entrepreneurial prospects. Ambassador Jumai encouraged the graduates to put their newly acquired skills and knowledge to practical use, highlighting the importance of ICT and reinvesting profits to sustain their ventures.

Dr. Olohungbebe, in a separate interview, commended Ambassador Jumai for her dedication to community development and urged others to follow her example.

Awards were also presented to notable figures, including Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, and Alhaja Sa’dat Kawu Madibo, for their significant contributions to the community. Ward chairmen present at the event included Mr. Oba Alabi (Ubandawaki Ward), Mallam Sulyman Amunutuka (Adewole Ward), Mr. Adebayo Tajudeen (Badari Ward), and Mr. Olorunosebi Tunde (Ogidi Ward).
