Alasa Traders’ Forum Celebrates Alhaji Akeem Oladimeji Lawal at 51

Today, Tuesday, 21st of October, 2025, the Alasa Traders’ Forum organized a grand celebration in honour of Alhaji Akeem Oladimeji Lawal, former Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate, as he marked his 51th birthday. The event, which held at the Alabi Alasa Center, Idi-Ape, Ilorin, drew traders, community leaders, clerics, political associates, and well-wishers from within and outside Kwara State.

The celebration commenced with an opening prayer led by Ustaz Abdurrahman Abdulwahab Al-Immah and Ustaz Abdullahi Mobolaji, setting a spiritual tone for the occasion. This was followed by a lecture delivered by Chief Imam Shittu Salaudeen Asikolaye, the Chief Imam of Alalubosa Mosque, who spoke on the importance of gratitude, humility, and service to humanity, urging the celebrant to continue impacting lives through community-driven initiatives.

In his goodwill message, Alhaji Akeem Oladimeji Lawal expressed deep appreciation to the Alasa Traders’ Forum for the honour and prayers extended to him. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting local economic growth and empowerment initiatives.

As part of his gestures, Alhaji Lawal donated ₦5 million to support the Alabi Alasa Microfinance initiative, aimed at boosting small-scale businesses among traders in the area.

In addition, he also donated ₦500,000 to his support group in recognition of their loyalty and continuous support over the years. The announcement was received with loud cheers from attendees who described him as a compassionate leader with a genuine heart for the people.
