Politics is a contest of ideas, vision, consultation, negotiation, and the collective will of the people. In every democracy, victory is earned through strategy, unity, and popular support. More importantly, once a candidate emerges through a legitimate process, the responsibility of every loyal party member is to rally behind that candidate in the interest of the party and the people.
During the recently concluded APC primary election, my support was firmly behind Hon. Suleiman Abdullahi Salihu (SAS 😎, whom I have proudly supported since joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the 2023 general election. My choice was based solely on political conviction and should never be mistaken for personal opposition to Hon. Saddiq Buhari. Such differences are natural in politics.
Now that the primary election has been concluded, Hon. Saddiq Buhari has emerged as the duly elected flag bearer of our great party for the Edu State Constituency seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly.
As a committed member of the APC, I wholeheartedly accept the outcome and pledge my full support to our candidate because the collective success of our party must always take precedence over individual preferences.
Hon. Saddiq Buhari brings to this contest a wealth of public service experience. He has served as the representative of Kwara North at the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Commissioner for Communications to the Governor of Kwara State, and Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment.
These roles have equipped him with valuable administrative experience, leadership capacity, and a practical understanding of governance and public service.
His emergence reflects the continued inclusion of capable young leaders in governance.
He is widely known for his humility, calm disposition, accessibility, and commitment to public service—qualities that have earned him respect across political and social divides.
Beyond his impressive résumé, Hon. Buhari has demonstrated a genuine commitment to improving the lives of ordinary people.
During his tenure as Special Adviser on Social Investment, many families across Edu Local Government benefited from government intervention programmes.
From Tsaragi to the riverine communities around Chewuru Ferry in Lafiagi, through Shonga and other communities, numerous lives were positively impacted through empowerment initiatives and social welfare programmes.
As a proud son of Tsaragi, Hon. Saddiq Buhari remains closely connected to his roots. He understands the aspirations and challenges of the people because he remains accessible, listens attentively, and consistently seeks practical solutions to community needs.
No leader is without imperfections, and Hon. Saddiq Buhari is no exception. However, leadership should ultimately be measured by competence, integrity, vision, and a sincere commitment to service.
Judged by these qualities, he has shown the capacity to attract meaningful development, create opportunities for employment and empowerment, support women and youths, care for the elderly, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every ward and community within Edu State Constituency.
As we prepare for the 2027 general election, the time has come to put the contest of the primaries behind us and unite with one purpose. Elections are won through collective commitment, not individual ambition.
Our shared objective should be to secure victory for the APC and deliver effective, responsive, and people-centred representation for the people of Edu.
May Almighty Allah grant Hon. Saddiq Buhari wisdom, sincerity, good health, and the fear of God as he embarks on this important responsibility. May He bless Edu State Constituency with peace, unity, sustainable development, and enduring prosperity.
Together, let us support a vision of inclusive leadership and work toward a brighter future for Edu State Constituency.
