Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, the father of popular musician David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has stated that he contributes 15 percent of Nigeria’s electricity supply. The billionaire businessman made this revelation on Tuesday during the Seventh-Day Adventist Church’s General Conference Annual Council 2024.

Adeleke shared that he is currently constructing a 1,250 megawatt power plant, which is expected to become the largest in Nigeria.

“As a businessman in the electricity sector, I own power plants and currently generate about 15 percent of Nigeria’s electricity needs,” he said. He further explained that he employs Chinese engineering companies for his projects and that his tenth power plant, a 1,250 megawatt facility, will be the biggest thermal power plant in Nigeria and is expected to be operational by January.

However, Adeleke revealed that the project faced challenges from a government official who threatened to block its progress. He emphasized that the project has only advanced through the grace of God, noting that they were initially denied a permit due to environmental concerns.
