The Ifelodun Local Government, under the leadership of Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has partnered with the Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS) to organize a one-day step-down training and empowerment programme for 500 farmers across the 18 wards of the local government.
The programme is scheduled for Thursday, 5th August 2025, at the Idofian Town Hall.
The training and empowerment exercise, which includes the distribution of goats sponsored by the Ifelodun Local Government Council, is designed to provide farmers and young people interested in livestock farming with the skills and resources to promote self-reliance and boost food production at the grassroots.
“Part of our effort to bring government closer to the people, in complementing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision, is to take opportunities like this directly to the grassroots.
This empowerment is aimed at reaching more youths and encouraging their active participation in agriculture,” the Chairman stated.
The Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Natural Resources explained that participants were carefully selected from all wards to benefit from the free training and empowerment.
He added that Kwara L-PRESS has further supported the beneficiaries with feed crushers to produce quality animal feed, ensuring better productivity and sustainability in livestock farming.
