Ward chairmen across the four local governments of Kwara Central Senatorial district have reiterated they will pull all the stops to ensure unity and progress of the ruling party in the state.

The Chairman of ward Chairmen of the APC in Kwara Central, Alhaji Baba Gobir, who featured on a radio program on Albarka 89.9FM, Ilorin, Tuesday, also asserted that there is no crisis between Sen. Saliu Mustapha and Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

However, Baba Gobir said that the party leadership have issues with the senator based on failed promises and injustice against party faithful and the people of Kwara Central.

Baba Gobir noted that Sen. Mustapha during his campaign promised to have a constituency office across the fifty three (53) wards of Kwara Central District, to ensure a people driven representation. However, upon assumption of office, he reneged on the promise.

He added that “the party rejected the recent empowerment items because the Senator only allocated three empowerment slots to each of the 53 wards out of the 3,000 empowerment slots, which the party considers grossly unfair. We could have collected those items as ward party leaders, but what will be the fate of our members at the grassroots?” Bab said.

“We don’t expect Sen. Mustapha to give it all to us, but giving a paltry 159 slots out of 3,000 to the party is not acceptable.

“It is equally disappointing that the Senator elected by the people of Kwara, and facilitated projects in the name of Kwara Central Senatorial District could take what legitimately and rightfully belongs to the people of Kwara Central to Kwara South and Kwara North.

“This is a case of criminal diversion of project. What our Senator did is simply unjust to the people of Kwara Central”, he said.

While allaying insinuations that the Governor is being vindictive with the stoppage of the ongoing Pavilion project at the Emir of Ilorin’s palace, facilitated by Sen. Mustapha, the Chairmen clarified that it is not a political matter but one that has to do with due process, which the Senator also alluded to.

“In the local community where I live, before you can construct a shop, town planning authority will stop you if you don’t secure building approval, talk more of a structure that will accommodate thousand of people. So, it is logically an issue of due process.”

Baba Gobir also added that members of the party are unhappy with how the Senator schemes to give the party and the government bad image behind the curtains but claims membership in the public.

He added that no individual is bigger than the party structure and they will not allow any chieftain to undermine the good work of the ruling party in Kwara State.
