Prince Lekan Adewoye formally declared his intention to contest for the Kwara South Senatorial seat on the platform of the APC, unveiling a development-focused agenda anchored on effective representation, inclusive growth and practical solutions to the district’s challenges.
The declaration, held in Ajase-Ipo, drew significant political weight and broad-based support, underscoring growing momentum behind his aspiration.
The event witnessed the backing of a strong coalition of political stakeholders, including a majority of House of Assembly members from Kwara South led by the Deputy Speaker, political leaders from the seven local government areas of the senatorial district, as well as several party stakeholders and supporters.
In his declaration speech, Adewoye framed his aspiration as a response to popular consultations and a commitment to purposeful representation, stressing that his ambition is driven by conviction to advance the fortunes of Kwara South.
” This is not politics as usual. This is not about empty promises. This is not about personal ambition.”
” This is about you. It is about the farmer who labours without support. It is about the youth who has energy but no opportunity. It is about the mother who worries about her children’s future. It is about communities still waiting for roads, light, water and security,” he declared.
He outlined a clear legislative and developmental agenda focused on:
Expanding opportunities for youths and women through empowerment and enterprise support;
Strengthening education and skills development for long-term prosperity;
Transforming agriculture into a driver of wealth creation and employment;
Advocating improved infrastructure, including roads, electricity and water supply;
Promoting security and improved healthcare access across the communities;
Supporting indigenous businesses and unlocking investment opportunities.
Adewoye also pledged a model of accessible and accountable representation, promising a functional constituency office, regular town hall engagements and enhancing support for transparent tracking of constituency projects.
Drawing from his experience, Adewoye said,” I am coming prepared.” As one who has worked in the real economy and industry. He said he would leverage federal engagement and strategic partnerships to attract development opportunities and deliver measurable progress to the district.
Emphasising collaboration, accountability and people-first governance, the aspirant said his mission is to provide focused, effective and responsive representation capable of moving Kwara South to greater heights. ” I will be accessible, accountable and available,” he stated.
With the scale of political endorsements already trailing the declaration, observers say the aspiration has opened with significant momentum, positioning Adewoye’s bid as one to watch in the race for the Kwara South Senate seat.
