The Ojuekun Sarumi Ward of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has announced the suspension of one Toyin Olosasa, an ally of a former political figure, Gbemi Saraki, over what it described as a controversial and misleading comment against Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The ward leadership, in a rejoinder issued on behalf of its members, said Olosasa’s recent remarks were reckless and capable of causing disunity within the party, adding that his statements did not reflect the position of the APC at the ward level.
According to the statement, Olosasa had engaged in repeated actions and utterances that portrayed him as aligned with interests seeking to destabilize the cohesion of the party in the state.
The ward also referenced past conduct attributed to Olosasa, alleging that his behavior at a party event years ago demonstrated indiscipline and disregard for party values, which it said was inconsistent with the principles of the APC.
It further dismissed Olosasa’s claim that Governor AbdulRazaq had lost popularity, describing the assertion as false and misleading. The ward maintained that the governor remains widely accepted across Kwara State, citing his performance in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
The statement emphasized that AbdulRazaq’s leadership continues to enjoy strong support within the party and among residents, adding that efforts to portray otherwise were politically motivated and disconnected from reality.
In view of the developments, the APC Ojuekun Sarumi Ward, led by its Chairman Abdulganiy Adeyi alongside other ward and local government executives, announced the immediate suspension of Olosasa from all party activities within its jurisdiction.
The ward reiterated its commitment to unity, discipline, and support for the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, stating that the party would not tolerate actions capable of undermining its cohesion or the credibility of its leadership.
