Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the Ifelodun Local Government Council, under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, held a special prayer session at the Idofian Town Hall to commemorate his first anniversary in office.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, and community members, who gathered not only to celebrate one year of leadership but also to pray for peace, security, and prosperity in Ifelodun, especially in light of recent challenges of insecurity and kidnappings affecting the area.
In his keynote speech, Hon. Femi Yusuf expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for His guidance and protection over the past year, while highlighting the developmental strides recorded across all 18 wards of the local government.
He reeled out a long list of completed and ongoing projects, including the construction and renovation of primary healthcare centres, solar-powered boreholes, classroom blocks, and road grading works.
His administration also prioritized security, providing 20 motorcycles for local security outfits, training 100 forest guards (who were enrolled in the state health insurance scheme), and supplying bulletproof vests and modern security gadgets.
On agriculture, the chairman announced the refurbishment of four abandoned tractors, procurement of five ridgers, and empowerment of 500 livestock farmers with machinery and goats. He also emphasized his administration’s efforts in education, markets development, and improved community infrastructure.
“These are some of the projects we have executed in our first year in office, and they represent our commitment to deliver inclusive development.
As we enter the second year of this administration, we look forward to more transformative projects, particularly in road construction, education, healthcare, and security,” he said.
The Chairman further called on all stakeholders to put politics aside and join hands in prayers for lasting peace and stability in Ifelodun.
The program featured Islamic prayers led by the Chief Imams of Ifelodun, Christian prayers led by members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and traditional prayers led by Elesin Abalaye and other cultural leaders
In their goodwill messages, dignitaries including Hon. AGF Solahudeen, Member representing Omupo Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, commended Hon. Femi Yusuf for his focus and dedication within just one year in office.
Similarly, a representative of the traditional rulers congratulated the chairman on his achievements but reminded him that “the beginning is not the work,” urging him to sustain the momentum and ensure continuous development throughout his tenure.
The event was also graced by notable traditional rulers, including the Elese of Igbaja land and the Olupako of Share among others.
Other dignitaries in attendance included the APC Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Arc. Lukman Abubakar; the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye; members of NULGE; and councillors representing various wards across the local government.
