The Kwara Progressives Media Organisation (KPMO) appeals to the Kwara State Government to declare a public holiday for Friday, September 20th, 2024. This strategic decision would facilitate the movement of residents from Ilorin and other areas within the state to their respective polling units in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, September 21st, 2024.
In a statement signed by the Convener, Beki Mashood Abdulquadri, Given the significance of these elections, it is crucial that all eligible voters have ample opportunity to participate in the democratic process, which is the bedrock of our cherished governance system. Declaring Friday as a public holiday will ensure that those who need to travel to their voting locations can do so without the constraints of work or school commitments. This is especially important in promoting a robust voter turnout and ensuring that the electoral process is inclusive and representative.
In light of the forthcoming elections, KPMO also seizes this moment to endorse all APC candidates across Kwara State for positions of chairmen and councillors. We firmly believe that to continue the excellent work and progressive policies implemented by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, it is imperative that we elect officials who align with his vision and dedication to the state’s development.
We urge the people of Kwara State to support the APC candidates, ensuring that the foundation laid by our esteemed Governor is built upon with integrity and commitment at the local government level. Let us come together to vote for continuity, stability, and prosperity in our local governance.
KPMO remains committed to advocating for policies and actions that enhance the welfare and progress of all Kwarans. We trust that the Kwara State Government will consider this call for a public holiday with the gravity and urgency it merits, ensuring every voter can exercise their right to vote without hindrance.
Let’s make our voices heard. Let’s vote for progress. Let’s vote APC.
