The Special Assistant to the Governor of Kwara State on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control, Hon. Aileru Olamilekan Mukail, will represent Nigeria at the Afri-Asia Summit holding in Nairobi, Kenya, where he will be speaking on government-driven initiatives in drug prevention and control and best practices among policymakers, with Kwara State being showcased as a model for subnational government efforts.
Hon. Mukail, a Public servant and drug demand reduction advocate, brings a wealth of experience to the summit. Prior to his current appointment, he served as an Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), where he gained frontline expertise in narcotics enforcement, drug prevention, and youth-centered interventions.
A globally trained professional, Mukail has undergone advanced training in drug prevention, counter-terrorism, tactical security, and health & safety across Nigeria, France, and the United States. He is a certified practitioner under the Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC) and has collaborated extensively with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and other international partners on drug prevention, human trafficking, and youth advocacy initiatives.
At the summit, Hon. Mukail will highlight Kwara State’s innovative approaches under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, emphasizing the state’s investment in prevention-driven policies, inter-agency collaboration, and youth-focused solutions aimed at reducing substance use and promoting public health.
“The participation of Hon. Mukail at this global platform is a testament to Kwara State’s growing recognition as a leader in subnational responses to drug control and youth engagement,” the statement added.
The Afri-Asia Summit is expected to bring together top policymakers, public health experts, and security professionals from Africa and Asia to exchange knowledge, strategies, and actionable solutions for addressing the global drug challenge.
