On Monday, May 11, 2026, Senatorial aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Patigi Local Government Area held a strategic consultative meeting with Etsu Patigi and Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness (Dr) Alhaji Umar Bologi II.
Following the deliberations, the aspirants issued the following communiqué:
1. Preservation of the Zoning Arrangement
We unequivocally state that the existing zoning arrangement within Kwara North must be respected to ensure continued peace, equity, and political stability in our district. Zoning remains the bedrock of our collective progress.
1. Unity of Purpose
We have resolved that whoever emerges as the party senatorial candidate from Patigi Local Government Area will receive the full and unconditional support of all other aspirants. We remain brothers first; no political contest will be allowed to undermine the long-standing bonds we share.
1. Appeal to the Incumbent Senator, Sadiq Suleiman Umar
We respectfully urge Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar to respect the established zoning rotation. It is important to note that this arrangement facilitated his emergence as Senator representing Kwara North, a fact he acknowledged in his publication, “How I Became a Senator in 30 Days.”
In Patigi LGA, we are known for our loyalty and political integrity. This was demonstrated during the 2023 elections when, despite having two prominent sons of Patigi on the ballot, we delivered bloc votes to Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar (from Kaiama LGA) to enable him complete his second term.
We therefore appeal to the Senator not to allow personal ambition to override the collective interest, and to remember that the seeds sown today will define his lasting legacy.
1. Call to Party Leadership
We appeal to the leadership of our great party, the APC, and our visionary leader, His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), to intervene in order to preserve the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed in Kwara North by upholding existing zoning agreements.
1. Continued Political Support
We reaffirm our unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our commitment to the aspiration of producing a Kwara North Senatorial District candidate for the Governorship of Kwara State.
