Yesterday, 21st of September 2025, the Kwara North Youth Consultative Forum (KNYCF) organized the first-ever Kwara North–Kwara Central Youth Dialogue at Peace Hotel, Tanke, Ilorin.

The event was aimed at strengthening unity among youths across senatorial districts and consolidating the call for equity, fairness, and justice as the state moves towards the 2027 governorship election.

With the theme “Kwara North 2027 Governorship Aspiration: A Path to a More United and Prosperous Kwara,” the dialogue brought together political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and youth representatives to deliberate on power rotation and inclusivity in governance.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of KNYCF, Abdul Dayan Haruna, expressed gratitude to Almighty God and described the gathering as historic. He emphasized that the aspiration of Kwara North was not about politics alone but about fairness, inclusivity, and building a stronger, united Kwara.

Delivering the first keynote address, the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Youth, Hon. Muhammad Abdullahi, noted that by the time Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq completes his tenure in 2027, Kwara Central would have produced governors for more than 20 years, while Kwara South has also done 8 years. He maintained that since 1999, Kwara North has never produced a governor.

“What we are saying is that it is now time for equity, fairness, and justice; values our religion teaches. But beyond sentiments, Kwara North must unite and present a qualified candidate, not just one because it is their turn,” Abdullahi stated.

In an interview with journalists, Former Senator Muhammad Ahmad stressed that his support was for fairness, not regional bias.

“I am not here because I support Kwara North; I am here because I support fairness. The last election, despite having a candidate from PDP, Kwara North supported APC. The only way to return that favor is for APC to be fair to them,” he explained.

Dr. Sanusi Lafiagi also lent his voice, describing the zoning of the governorship to Kwara North as the “next logical step” in the state’s political journey. He urged leaders to embrace inclusivity and equity to sustain peace and unity across the state.

Other contributors, including Alhaji Salihu Sulaiman, commended the deliberate outreach of Kwara North youths to Kwara Central and Kwara South, noting that such engagements distinguished the present agitation from previous ones.

The program ended with goodwill messages and contributions from youths across both senatorial districts, who unanimously called for unity and fairness. Organizers disclosed that the dialogue will continue with consultations in Kwara South to further strengthen statewide consensus
