Against the baseless standard measures of Academic Staff University Union (ASUU) President, Prof. Victor Emmanuel Osodeke, on the purported claim that Kwara State University(KWASU) and other universities in Nigeria are run in quakery, another trailblazer from KWASU got graduate Assistant Scholarships at both Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and University of New Haven in Connecticut, United States of America.
The recipient of the scholarship, Mr Oluwagbemiga Michael who was a first class graduate from the department of Medical Laboratory Science, Kwara State University, Malete revealed the new development in his career on Friday, 26th, August 2022 through his social media handle when he was appreciating God and those that helped him achieved his dream.
He also narrated how rigorous the journey was for him since March, 2022, from getting the transcript from his Alma Mater to writing the English Proficiency letter, intensive searching of the school of his research interests outside the country, countless of rejections and scores of fruitless emails before the fortune recently smiled at him in August.
In his expression: ” I got my transcript and English proficiency letter from the school and then I started searching for schools outside the country with my research interest and I was also mentored by a Senior colleague I met a long time. I check the school requirements and send cold mails to the professor about my intent. Then I prepared my documents and applied”.
He further recounted the benefits associated with the scholarships: ” the benefits attached with the scholarships are: they offer me a geographical enhancement award with full tuition waiver and competitive monthly stipend” he said.
He added that he is of the opinion that school is never a scam but the only prove to wrong the purported assertion is by showing them results through scholastic exploits. In his statement: ” I never subscribed to the school of thought that schooling is a scam because what really helped me is my high CGPA, I can not imagine being where I am without outstanding grade, so school is not a scam” he enthused.
In his advice to students, he charged them to be consistent in what they are doing devoid of distractions in any forms.
“Be consistent in everything you are doing and don’t allow anyone to discourage you from working towards achieving your dreams. Always be consistent and stay focus. As I use to say hard work pays and don’t forget there will always be a room for the people at the top. Keep making progress” he remarked.
