Prof. Yinka Abdulmumeen Ajia, a governorship aspirant of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), on Tuesday arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and ongoing political consultations across the state.

The frontline governorship hopeful was warmly received at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, by a large crowd of supporters, political associates, party loyalists, and admirers who gathered to welcome him.

Supporters at the airport chanted solidarity songs and expressed confidence in his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State.

Following his arrival, Prof. Ajia proceeded to the Ilorin Emir’s Palace as part of his Sallah engagements and consultations with stakeholders within the Ilorin Emirate.

Speaking with journalists during the visit, Ajia outlined some of his plans for Kwara State if elected governor in 2027, with emphasis on security, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, infrastructure, and community development.
The governorship aspirant said his administration would prioritize the protection of lives and property through improved support for security agencies, community policing initiatives, and stronger collaboration with traditional rulers and local communities.
He also promised to improve healthcare delivery across the state by upgrading hospitals and primary healthcare centres, providing modern medical equipment, and ensuring better welfare for health workers.
On education, Ajia pledged to improve learning facilities in public schools, provide a better environment for teachers and students, promote access to quality education, and introduce programmes that would support academic excellence and skills development among youths.
According to him, education remains a major tool for development and youth empowerment, stressing that investment in the sector would help reduce unemployment, poverty, and social challenges in the state.
Ajia further stated that his administration would focus on job creation, vocational training, agricultural development, road construction, and rural development projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across Kwara State.
He emphasized the need for inclusive governance and community participation, pledging to carry all communities along in the development process if given the mandate to lead the state.
His visit to the Ilorin Emir’s Palace attracted supporters and residents who accompanied his entourage, further reflecting the growing political momentum surrounding his governorship ambition ahead of the next electoral cycle in Kwara State.
